Two kinds of "No.1"
No.1 by what households buy
From the Statistics Bureau of Japan's Family Income and Expenditure Survey (2023–2025 average): the city, among 52 (47 prefectural capitals plus designated cities), whose households spend or buy the most per year. Home purchases only — eating out and gifts are not counted.
No.1 by what prefectures produce
From the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) crop and marine fishery statistics (2024 final figures): the prefecture with the largest harvest, catch or aquaculture output.
